10 unpleasant symptoms that are the forerunner of deadly diseases

Modern medicine has reached fantastic heights, but much of the knowledge about how the human body really functions remains a mystery. Literally every year, people are faced with new diseases that they did not even know about before. In our review, we are talking about ” ten ” really strange symptoms, the appearance of which can indicate the occurrence of a deadly disease.
1. Forget how to breathe

This is true: sometimes people forget how to breathe. When the pressure on the brain begins to increase for some reason (due to a massive stroke, a growing tumor, or a build-up of water inside the brain substance (hydrocephalus), the brain eventually presses against the skull. This often affects the respiratory centers located in the brain stem, after which a person may actually forget how to breathe. This symptom signals an increase in intracranial pressure, which can eventually end in death.

2. Dancing for no reason

Everyone knows the feeling when you just can’t sit in one place and your feet start dancing at the sound of some melody. But this is not the point. In the field of medicine, there are several serious degenerative diseases that lead to the patient performing uncontrolled jerky movements that are not for doctors like some kind of dance. Such movements are called hemiballism, and they occur when certain areas of the brain lose their inhibitory control over movements.

Although this symptom is quite interesting at first glance, it is very debilitating, and in order to avoid involuntary movements or twitching, you often have to take a large number of medications.

3. Hypersexuality

It turns out that the human sex drive is initially developed in the deep parts of the human brain. Hypersexuality and inappropriate sexual behavior (the desire to take any object in your mouth and the loss of a normal fear response) are part of a group of symptoms that describe Kluver-Bucy syndrome – a rare disease that is often seen in people with severe damage to the areas of the brain responsible for keeping emotions under control. Unfortunately, neither psychotherapy nor medication can cope with this disease. Often patients with this syndrome are constantly very irritable.

4. Complete paralysis

The idea that you can be completely paralyzed and still remain fully conscious causes fear. But oddly enough, this eerie condition can sometimes become a frightening reality for some patients who suffer from the so-called “locked-in person syndrome”. Many patients who have experienced severe brain damage on the verge of death have fallen into a state where they cannot move, communicate or even feel, but are often conscious and aware of everything that is happening around them.

The chances of recovery are often low, with most patients remaining in this condition until they die. Several famous cases of this syndrome are the famous theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, ROM Houben, who survived a car crash and was without movement for more than 23 years, and Jean Dominique boby, a French philanthropist who later founded an organization dedicated to helping people with “locked – in syndrome”.

5. Huge testicles

Just imagine that some men have larger testicles than the torso, which is why these people simply can not move. This condition is called elephantiasis, and it can also increase the size of the legs to a huge size. Elephantiasis or elephantiasis is usually the result of parasitic infections, in particular infection with filariatous worms, which are often found in soil in African countries.

These worms burrow into people’s feet and block capillaries, which leads to water accumulation under the skin of the feet or scrotum. In other cases, testicular edema may occur due to other conditions that may cause fluid accumulation near the testicles.

6. Malignant hyperthermia

Everyone must have been so angry at some point that they literally felt like they were boiling over. From a medical point of view, this is possible in a condition known as malignant hyperthermia. This is a rare condition that occurs after General anesthesia. The body temperature can rise up to 41 degrees Celsius, causing severe tissue damage.

Malignant hyperthermia is often caused by a hereditary defect associated with violations of normal temperature regulation. Unfortunately, most people who suffer from this often don’t even know that they have an inherited mutation… until they end up in intensive care.

7. Photophobia or porphyria

We are not talking about “Twilight”, but about the disease that gave rise to the legend of vampires and ways to get rid of them, namely, light and garlic. This condition is called porphyria, and it accumulates porphyrins in the body due to the inability to produce heme (the non-protein part of hemoglobin) from porphyrins.

People who suffer from porphyria are mortally afraid of light, since light leads to a reaction on the skin that causes severe pain. They also have a ghostly pale complexion, mainly due to an aversion to sunlight. And these people are also afraid of garlic, because its smell exacerbates most of the symptoms. In addition, their urine turns purple and looks like blood. Fortunately, porphyria is an exceptionally rare phenomenon in modern days.

8. Hydrophobia

Everyone saw cats and dogs showing an aversion to water. This can happen in humans and is considered one of the signs of rabies. In fact, patients are not afraid of water at all. The rabies virus causes severe muscle spasm around the throat and makes it very difficult to swallow. From the outside, it looks like they are disgusted with water.

9. Completely ignoring body parts

People can be forgetful: they forget their car keys, their wives, and their children. And sometimes they completely forget that they have any part of the body. This can be observed in those who have suffered a stroke and survived. For some, it looks like not using the affected part of the body in reflex movements. And in more serious cases, it even leads to a total denial that there is a left or right side of the body. Studies have shown that this is associated with a malfunction of certain parts of the brain.

10. Mutilation

Usually the act of self-harm is associated with psychological disorders. A person behaves in this way when something is very concerned or trying to cope with numerous problems. However, there are people who mutilate themselves due to the fact that they suffer from Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. This genetic disease causes problems with the body’s ability to process uric acid, a byproduct of normal cell recycling.

As a result, uric acid begins to accumulate in undesirable areas of the body, such as the brain. This leads to a number of psychological symptoms, the most obvious of which is self-harm.
